HOW DO SKILL EVALUATIONS WORK?

Skill Testing Weeks at Splitz!
Every 3–5 weeks, we hold Skill Testing Weeks to assess student progress. During this time, our leadership team and floor support staff will be actively involved in classes to help coaches update each student’s skill assessments. You can expect to see our leadership team joining in during classes and supporting evaluations to ensure every student receives the attention they need.
As part of our commitment to your child’s growth, we aim to provide consistent monthly updates on their skill progress. We’re confident this initiative will enhance both your child’s development and their overall experience at Splitz.
What if my child is absent during Skill Testing Week?
No worries! While most assessments take place during these designated weeks, if your child misses a testing session, their coach will continue to monitor and update their progress during regular class time in the following weeks.
What if my child learns a new skill outside of testing weeks?
That’s fantastic—and of course, it will be celebrated! Coaches will always record new skills as they are achieved, whether during testing weeks or not. We know how hard our students work, and every milestone matters.
What if my child is stuck on a skill?
Some skills may take longer to master than others—especially "key skills," which are more advanced and play an important role in your child's overall development at higher levels. It's completely normal for mastery to take time with certain skills. If you ever have concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your coach. We’ll work together to create a plan to support your child’s progress.
Who should I talk to about my child's skill progression?
If you have any questions about your child's skill evaluations, please feel free to stop by the office. We'd be happy to connect you with their coach or help facilitate a follow-up conversation.

Progressing Through Levels
Progression and Level Advancement at Splitz
To move up to the next level, your child must master all but three skills within their current level. Each skill is assessed using a star system:
⭐ 1 Star – Skill has been introduced and attempted
⭐⭐ 2 Stars – Skill is being practiced and developed
⭐⭐⭐ 3 Stars – Skill is mastered and consistently performed across multiple classes
Once your child has successfully completed their level, you’ll receive an email notification. Within two weeks of that email, your child will be awarded their collectible level pin in class—a fun way to celebrate their hard work and progress!
If your child is ready to transition into a new level, we’ll also share alternative class options to support a smooth and timely move.
And just a friendly reminder: every child progresses at their own pace, and that’s perfectly okay! Our goal is to support their individual journey, celebrate milestones, and make learning fun and rewarding.

What are Skill Cycles?
At Splitz, we follow an 8-week skill cycle.
Each cycle is divided over two weeks per event to ensure all students have the opportunity to train on every apparatus. Within each cycle, we focus on specific "testable skills"—these are the key skills we're assessing progress on during that time.
During testing weeks, your child will receive updates on their progress with these testable skills. It's important to note that not every skill is evaluated during testing weeks—only the designated testable skills for that cycle.
That said, coaches continuously track progress and will record new skills as they are achieved, whether it’s during testing weeks or throughout regular class sessions.
