Coach: Gabrielle Winterhalt

What programs do you currently Coach?

I currently coach Active Start and CanGym classes.

How long have you been a Coach?

I have been coaching since August 2014, so almost three years!

Are you a current or past athlete with Splitz?

I have been an athlete for eight years and started at Splitz when I was nine years old. I am apart of the extreme team at Splitz and I love to compete!

Why do you love Coaching?

I love coaching because I love to fuel the athlete’s passion for the sport and sharing my love of the sport with them as well. I like connecting with the athletes as I can understand the frustration of not getting a skill and the excitement of accomplishing a new skill.

What is a memorable moment for you in your Coaching?

A memorable moment for me as a Coach is when I received my first class to teach on my own. I still have a lot of the same athletes from my first class in my current classes! They all rock!

What is a proud Coaching moment for you?

A proud coaching moment for me is when I had an athlete struggling with a cartwheel for the longest time. I could understand her frustration and helped her work through it. When she was able to accomplish a cartwheel it was a very proud moment for me because I knew I was able to help her reach her goal and that is what makes coaching so special!

Future Goals

I have been accepted to the University of British Columbia and will be starting my studies in September 2017. I am looking forward to majoring in Biology and minoring in Biochemistry. I want to become a Paediatrician. I hope to still be able to coach during my time at school!
